From version 1.9, OneUpsell will introduce a brand new function which helps merchants boost their sales by increasing average order value. This is called Volume Discount campaign. In this article, we will walk you through the set-up and all the necessary information you need about this function.

General setup

From Offer Type, users will see the Volume Discount tab showing above the Quantity Breaks section. Clicking on it and hit the Create Offer button.

Create a discount

Name the Offer Name
Tap Set end date to select End Date, or your campaign will run until you turn it off.
Select Discount Amount Off at Discount Type
Select Volume Type
Fill in the Threshold 1
Tick Stackable Discount and Add Threshold (optional)

Volume Discount Name: Enter the name you want for this campaign.
Volume Discount Code: This code is automatically created by OneUpsell and can be editable. The discount code will be visible to customers on the Add-to-Cart page and Checkout page. It will be automatically filled in if the product quantity reaches the threshold.
Duration: Adjust timespan of your Volume Discount
Threshold Quantity Discount and Discount Amount Off: The amount of discount your customers can receive if they reach the threshold quantity.
Volume Type : Deciding which product type to apply on the campaign. You can choose 1 of the 3 options here:

Mix Products: the discount is automatically counted when the visitor's cart meets the number of the campaign's products, regardless of the products or variations. For example, your threshold is "Buy 4 get 10% off". If the visitor purchases four T-shirts in the same or different sizes, the discount will be applied. In the case that the visitor purchases four items (2 T-shirts, 1 pant, and 1 hat), the discount will only be applied if those items are listed in the discount campaign.

Same products regardless of product variants: the quantity discount will be applied if a visitor buys enough required quantity of a product no matter which of its variants. For example: a T-Shirt whose colors are Black, White and Blue. It is applied with the threshold "Buy 4 get $5 off". A visitor will get the discount if he/she purchases 1 Black, 2 White and 1 Blue T-shirt.

Same variant only: If a variant of the selected product is brought with the required quantity following the threshold, the visitors can get the discount. For example: A hat has the threshold "Buy 2 Get $10 Off" and a customer buys exactly 2 Red ones so he/she will get $10 off for this purchase.

Discount details:

Here you can have the option of manually setting up or let Stackable Discount auto generate the next level of Threshold for you.

Manually: Fill in the Threshold quantity at Buy, and Discount amount between Get and Off. Tap Add Threshold to add more.


Automatically: Tick Stackable Discount to auto generate the next level of Threshold quantity and Discount amount. This will be based on the geometric sequence. For example: Buy 2 products, off $5 → Buy 4 products, off $10 → Buy 6 products, off $15, etc.

If you have more than one threshold, when turning on Stackable Discount, all will be removed except the first threshold.
Whenever you select Stackable Discount, the function of Limit (Limit maximum product quantity that can be used with this discount) will help to avoid the product quantity that exceeds this number. Even if your visitors purchase a large number of items, the highest discount amount will be applied in this situation.

For example: the Stackable Discount is set up with Buy 2 get $5 off and the Limit quantity is 7, then the highest Discount amount will be $15. If your visitors purchase 10 items, 100 items or even 10000, the discount is only $15.



The Threshold discount is applied based on the Volume Type.

Add Products

There are three options: Apply to specific products, Apply to any product in specific collections and Apply to all products. Select the one you need and click on Add Product button.


A product can be added in many Volume Discount campaigns which are running at the same time, but only the latest one will be applied to it.
The sale price must be higher than Discount amount per quantity. For example: the price of the Product A is at $5, the Threshold discount is set up as "Buy 2 get $12 off" which means one unit of the Product A will have $6 discount. As the result, the Product A will not have the Threshold discount on the store. For any items that have sale prices less than discount amount per quantity, the offer will not be shown in the Product Detail page, and applied in Cart page and Checkout page.
Customize design

Hover and click on Edit to customize the template.


Activate a discount

Double-check your campaign's details and continue clicking on Save as draft or Save Active button.


How the volume displays

After activating the campaign, it will automatically generate on your Products details page and Cart page (if selected).
